In
1966 Charles reached the level of 7 goals and won many high goal tournaments
that include winning the U.S. Open 5 times and being part of the U.S.
Team for the ‘76 and ’81 Camacho Cups and the 1979 Cup of
the Americas; three C.V. Whitney Cups; the Gold Cup twice; the Butler
Handicap twice and the 20 Goal or Silver Cup 8 times tying Ray Harrington’s
record for most wins of the Silver Cup. Additional tournament wins of
note included 6 wins in the highly competitive Southwest Intra-Circuit
Championships and the National Inter-Circuit Championship in 1972. The
Hugo Dalmar trophy for sportsmanship was awarded to him in 1999.
